Department of Zoology was one among the three pioneering departments of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Buner Campus, established in 2011. The Department has shown tremendous progress in a short span of time. The department has evolved in human resources and infrastructure during its successful journey.
The highly qualified faculty members of the department are all engaged in teaching and research activities.
We have our courses designed and constantly updated in light of HEC guidelines. Apart from the basic courses in animal sciences, focusing on different aspects of animals’ life, are also taught interdisciplinary courses in order to equip them with the basic concepts required for advance research in modern day life sciences. Moreover, the students are offered research in diverse fields of Zoology.
The department a research lab equipped with tools and instruments required for basic and advance research in various fields of animal sciences. Additionally, the Zoological Museum at the department contains a vast collection of insects, fishes, and other animals as part of their research and/or specialized courses.
Department of Zoology besides its standard academic activities has maintained its identity as a leader in different co-curricular activities, highlighting the progress of our still young University.
We further commit to strengthen the department by the induction of new PhD faculty, equipping the available lab and museum, establishing a new labs and launching advance programs of M.Phil. and PhD in near future.
Our Vision: Department of Zoology aims to be a renowned and well reputed center of education and research in the basic and applied areas of animal sciences, recognizable at every level by the quality of its product in the form of genuine research and competent graduates.
Our Mission: Committed to impart quality education to our graduates, equipped in theoretical and practical knowledge of all aspects of animals’ life, who can compete, in the job market in teaching, research, and industry, thus contributing to the knowledge based socio-economic uplift of the nation.
